Cybersquatting Claim Filed Over Adult Cam Site CoachellaCams.com

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — The corporate owner of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has apparently filed a cybersquatting claim with WIPO over the domain name CoachellaCams.com, which currently operates as an adult live cam portal.

Held annually in the spring and known simply as “Coachella,” the music festival, held at the 78-acre Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif., is one of the most critically acclaimed music festivals in the world.

Just this past weekend, Ice Cube, Guns N’ Roses, Calvin Harris and numerous others performed in front of 99,000 each day. Last year, its corporate owner, Golden Voice, said it set the record for the world’s highest-grossing festival over two weekends — $78.3 million. (Golden Voice is a division of AEG Live, which owns the Los Angeles Kings and Staples Center, among many other properties.)

The cybersquatting claim, filed today, names only the URL at center of attention but neither the claimant or respondent.

Golden Voice, however, operates Coachella.com, which runs an informational website on the festival’s events and activities, as well as its art installations, festival lineup and directions.

CoachellaCams.com offers an assortment of unabashed adult live cam models.

WIPO has not reviewed the cybersquatting case by post time.
